holestobecomeobscuredinanyway

Battery Tester

• Whenstatic,theneedleoftheDial(3)shouldpointto‘0’.Thepositionofthe

needlecanbenetunedbyrotatingtheZeroAdjustmentScrew(4)

• Ensureengineisstopped,andallloadsdisconnected.Onsomevehiclesitmaybe

desirabletoremovethebatteryfromthevehicle.Batteryterminalsmustbecleanand

freefromcorrosion

• ConnectthePositiveLead(2)tothepositive(+)terminalofthebattery

• ConnecttheEarthLead(1)tothenegative(-)terminalofthebattery

• Theneedleshouldmovetowardstherightwhenbothleadsareconnected.Ifa 

12Vbatteryreadsbelow12V,orifa6Vbatteryreadsbelow6V,itwillneedtobe 

rechargedbeforefurthertesting

• MovetheLoadSwitch(5)tothe‘ON’position(totheright),andallowthedialneedleto

stabilise.Donotholdtheloadswitchinthe‘ON’positionformorethan10seconds

• Allowatleast1fullminuteforthetestertocoolbeforeperforminganothertest

Needle Position Battery Condition

Greensection Batteryisingoodconditionandisreadyforuse.

Yellowsection Batteryisinpoorcondition,needsrecharging,ormaybedamaged.

Redsection Batteryisinverypoorcondition,willrequireafullrechargeor

replacement.

NOTE:6Vand12Vbatterieshaveseparatescalesonthedial.Checkthatyouarereferringto

thecorrectscaleforyourbattery.Thegreensectionofthe12Vbatterysectionissteppedto

indicateagoodconditionfordifferentbatterycapacities,refertothebattery’sCCAratingto

determinethecorrectrange

Testing the Charging System

WARNING: Thistestrequiresthevehicle’senginetoberunning.Internalcombustionengines

producecarbonmonoxide,andotherharmfulfumes.Neverconducttestswiththevehiclein

anykindofenclosedarea,goodventilationisessentialforyoursafety

NOTE: DONOTpresstheloadswitchatanypointduringthistest

Thistestisnotsuitablefor6Vsystems

• Connecttheleadstothebatteryasdescribed

• Starttheengine,andallowtoidlesteadily(between1200-1500rpm)

• Theneedleshouldpointtothegreensectionabovethewords‘CHARGINGSYSTEM’Ifthe

needleisnotinthegreenarea,thechargingsystemisfaulty

Testing the Starter

NOTE:Thistestrequiresyoutodisabletheignitionsystemoftheenginetopreventitstarting.

Refertovehiclemanufacturer’sguidanceforinformationonhowtosafelydothis

Thebatteryshouldbefullycharged,andtheengineatnormaloperatingtemperaturefor

thistest

• Disableignitionsystem

• Connectleadstobatteryaspreviouslydescribed

• Haveanassistantcranktheengine.Observethereadingonthedial

• Areadingof9Vorlessindicatesafaultysystem.Checkthatstarterconnectionsaregood,

andthatthebatteryisofadequatecapacityforthesystem

Maintenance and Disposal

Cleaning - Alwayscleandustaway,andneverallowventilationholestobecomeblocked.

Useasoftbrush,ordryclothtocleanthetool,ifavailableblowthroughtheventilationholes

withclean,dry,compressedair

Disposal -Donotdisposeofpowertools,orotherwasteelectricalandelectronicequipment

(WEEE),withhouseholdwaste

Contact yourlocalwastedisposalauthorityforinformationontheproperwaytodisposeof

electricandelectronicequipment

• Raccordezlecâblepositif(2)àlabornepositive(+)delabatterie.

• Raccordezleldeterre(1)àlabornenégative(-)delabatterie.

• L’aiguilledoittournerversladroitelorsquelesdeuxcâblessontconnectés.Siune

batteriede12Vafcheunetensioninférieureà12V,ousiunebatteriede6Vafcheune

tensioninférieureà6V,elledevraêtrerechargéeavantdeprocéderàd’autrestests.

• Placezlecommutateurdecharge(5)surlapositionMarche(«ON»)(àdroite)etlaissez

l’aiguilleducadransestabiliser.Nemaintenezpaslecommutateurdechargesurla

positionMarchependantplusde10secondes.

• Laissezletesteurrefroidirpendant1minuteavantdel’utiliserpourunautretest.

relativesàlacapacitédedémarrageàfroiddelabatterie.

REMARQUE :N’APPUYEZPAS,àaucunmoment,surlecommutateurdechargelorsdutest.

Cetestn’estpasadaptéauxsystèmes6V.

• Branchezlescâblessurlabatteriedelamanièredécriteci-dessus.

• Démarrezlemoteurpuislaissez-leralentirprogressivement(entre1200et1500tours/

minute).

• L’aiguilledoitindiquerlapartievertesituéeau-dessusdesmots«CHARGINGSYSTEM»

(SYSTÈMEDECHARGE).Sil’aiguillenesetrouvepasdanslazoneverte,lesystèmede

chargeestdéfectueux.

Test du démarreur

normale.

• Désactivezlesystèmed’allumage.

• Branchezlescâblessurlabatteriedelamanièredécriteprécédemment.

• Demandezàunassistantdemettrelecontactetde«démarrerlemoteur».Lisezlavaleur

indiquéesurlecadran.

• Silavaleurestégaleouinférieureà9V,lesystèmeestdéfectueux.Assurez-vousquele

démarreurestbienbranchéetquelabatterieaunecapacitéappropriéepourlesystème.

Entretien et elimination

Nettoyage -Enleveztoujourslesimpuretésetnelaissezjamaislesoricesd’aération

s’obstruer.Pournettoyerl’appareil,utilisezunebrossedouceouunchiffonsec.Sipossible,

nettoyezlesoricesd’aérationavecdel’aircomprimépropreetsec.

Elimination-Nejetezpaslesappareilsélectriques,nilesautreséquipementsélectriqueset

électroniquesusagés,aveclesdéchetsménagères.
